Recently, a delegation of teachers and students from the Vocational College of Shanghai University of Engineering Science and Technology and Shanghai Senior Technical School was invited to participate in the TED - Technical Engineer Diploma Student Innovation Training Project International Cooperation Technical Exchange Conference, a cooperation project between the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), a national vocational education institution in Singapore, and the Baden-Württemberg State Education Department in Germany, focusing on  mechanical engineering talent cultivation.

ITE, Singapore, organized a distinctive technology innovation exhibition and technical exchange event. The main guests attending this technical innovation exchange exhibition included Mr. Suresh Natarajan, Principal of the ITE Central Campus; Mr. Chong Leong Fatt, Deputy Principal; Dr. Lim See Yew, Senior Dean of the Engineering Academy; Mr. Ramanath S. H., Deputy Director of the Precision Engineering Group; Mr. Andreas Wellstein, Head of  the Computer Science Department at Gottlied Daimler School, the German partner; Mr. Thomas Dorner, Research  Director of the Stuttgart Ministry of Education in Germany; and several representatives from enterprises.

The project team visited the campus and a local enterprise (Carrier) for exchange and learning.

This technical innovation exchange exhibition featured a total of 12 innovative projects in mechanical engineering applications and two overseas exchange programs, covering areas such as civil engineering machinery, industrial production equipment, livelihood improvement projects, smart production line systems, agricultural production equipment, and transportation infrastructure.

The project team participated in the Singapore curriculum and discussed the project with their students.

The delegation from the Vocational College and Senior Technical School consisted of five members, led by Liu Wei, a teacher from the Manufacturing Engineering Department, with four student members: Ma Yuanchu, Zhu Haoyu, Li Jing'en, and Liu Yibo. Their exhibited project was "Lantu - Low-Position Road Lighting System". The teachers and students introduced the innovative design concept and technology applied in the project to LTE teachers, students, and exhibiting guests in English. The project exchange attracted considerable attention from educational personnel, representatives from the corporate world, teachers, and students, and received high praise from the guests. International friends described the work as "convenient, creative, intelligent, and practical in solving problems". Combining the conditions of rural and national roads in China, the project takes practical problems as the demand guide and adopts light-sensitive sensors and solar technology to improve existing situations. "Lantu" illuminated the path of exchange between teachers and students from both countries. Through the cooperative development of this innovative project, a platform for innovative thinking and knowledge exchange was established between students from both sides.

The project team prepared and rehearsed for the exhibition.

This visit marked the third time that the secondary vocational students from our school have gone abroad to showcase their technologically cooperative, collaboratively improved, and self-made technical works since 2019. To ensure a flawless completion of this international cooperation project and enhance the innovative design capabilities of teachers and students, the college and school leadership attached great importance to this exchange exhibition opportunity, providing guidance and care throughout the project selection, design and production, and exhibition processes. Teachers from the school office, Manufacturing Engineering Department, and other relevant departments worked together to provide strong support for the project's implementation. After nearly six months of meticulous preparation, the teachers and students overcame difficulties, made breakthroughs in innovation, demonstrated a craftsmanship spirit of struggle and struggle, and showed an innovative spirit of facing challenges. During this process, members of the Chinese and Singaporean project teams exchanged ideas and actively communicated, successfully completing the TED cooperation technical exchange report. Through project cooperation between students from both countries, cultural exchanges were promoted, friendships between the two sides were strengthened, and the cultivation of students' innovative and entrepreneurial abilities was enhanced.

The project team introduced the project to the exhibiting guests.

The Institute of Technical Education (ITE), established on April 1, 1992, is a government-funded public institution directly affiliated with the Singapore Ministry of Education. In 2005, ITE became the first educational institution in Singapore to receive the Singapore Quality Award. This award recognizes ITE's unique role in cultivating outstanding enterprise talents and marks a milestone in the institute's development. While actively drawing on advanced foreign talent cultivation methods, ITE focuses on combining them with the actual situation in Singapore, vigorously developing vocational education, and cultivating a group of well-qualified composite talents to meet the urgent needs of society.
