In the morning of April 18, 2024, a management team from the Singapore Institute of Technical Education (ITE), led by Associate Dean Ramanath, visited our college. The delegation of four individuals held an exchange meeting with our college leaders and relevant teaching and administrative departments in Conference Room 811 of the Comprehensive Building. The foreign guests from ITE were Mr. Ramanath, Associate Dean of the Precision Engineering Department of the Engineering Academy, Ms. Candice, Senior Curriculum Manager, Ms. Kelly, Department Head, and Ms. Linda, Senior Lecturer for Technical Diploma Programs. The meeting was hosted by Vice President Xiao Qian, with eight representatives from our college attending, including Party Secretary Wang Zhenjun, President Zheng Shubin, Director of the College Office Chen Yaqiong, Chief of the Educational Affairs Section Bian Weihua, Director of the Electromechanical Engineering Department Zhang Rui, Director of the Manufacturing Engineering Department Li Houjia, and other relevant personnel.
First, both sides introduced the guests present at the exchange meeting. President Zheng Shubin delivered a welcoming speech to the foreign guests who had traveled far. The close exchanges and cooperative relationship established between the two colleges in 2010 were invaluable, having spanned 13 years of history. This was also the first opportunity for the management teams of both sides to communicate face-to-face since the global pandemic.
Vice President Xiao Qian introduced the basic situation of our college, educational characteristics, departmental settings and professional groups, achievements in vocational education and teaching reform, partners and models of school-enterprise cooperation, international cooperation and exchange activities, honorary titles and qualifications obtained, as well as the previous cooperation background between the two sides.
Next, the representatives of the opposing side provided detailed introductions regarding ITE's educational missions, management and educational models, collaborations with industries and enterprises, as well as global partners.
Both sides conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on the employment environment, skill demands, and overall planning and visions for vocational education under the current economic situation and industrial transformation. Both sides agreed that, in the context of current industrial transformation and new productivity, vocational education should move towards exploring the cultivation of diversified skills and talents that can flexibly adapt to future job demands.
At the end of the exchange meeting, Party Secretary Wang Zhenjun delivered a concluding speech, thanking both sides for the long-standing mutual trust and deep friendship established over the past 13 years. He believed that through this visit and exchange, both sides would further deepen international educational cooperation and promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning. The famous quote "With one skill, one can move the world," cited by Secretary Wang, left a deep impression on the foreign guests, earning praise from all present.
After the meeting, the four foreign guests visited the Shanghai Robot Training Center and the "Industrial Control" project base of the World Skills Competition in the Electromechanical Engineering Department, as well as the Shanghai Five-Star NC Technology Application Open Training Center and the "Additive Manufacturing" project base of the World Skills Competition in the Manufacturing Engineering Department. They gained firsthand knowledge of the experimental and training equipment and facilities of our college.
The exchange meeting concluded successfully in a friendly, pragmatic, open, and cooperative atmosphere. In the future, the friendship between the two sides will surely remain evergreen, and they will continue to promote the development of their respective vocational education careers through continuous exchanges and cooperation, cultivating more talents with international perspectives and professional skills, and making greater contributions to the economic and social development of their respective countries.
