Dr. Wang Jianguo introduced the basics of the Hong Kong Vocational Training Council (VTC). Established in 1982, VTC aims to provide a comprehensive and cost-effective vocational education and training system that aligns with Hong Kong's socio-economic needs. It is currently the largest vocational education institution in Hong Kong, responsible for pre-service and in-service training. With 14 member institutions, such as the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE), the School of Business and Information Technology (SBI), training centers, and development centers, VTC provides comprehensive pre-service and in-service training to 200,000 students annually and awards internationally recognized academic qualifications.
President Zheng Shubin expressed that there are many common grounds and areas worth learning from each other between our institution and VTC in terms of vocational education talent cultivation and professional development. There is vast potential for exchange and cooperation, and great prospects for future endeavors. Both sides conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on potential directions and areas of cooperation, including regular teacher-student exchanges, further education for post-secondary vocational graduates to pursue bachelor's degrees in Hong Kong, professional undergraduate exchanges and credit recognition, and integration in the construction of industry-education consortiums.
After the meeting, Dr. Wang visited our institution's Shanghai Robotics Training Center, Shanghai Five-Star NC Technology Application Open Training Center, and the World Skills Competition bases for "Additive Manufacturing" and "Industrial Control," gaining firsthand understanding of the experimental and training equipment and facilities, as well as the progress of various projects at our institution.
The meeting concluded successfully in an atmosphere of pragmatism, friendship, openness, and cooperation. In the future, both sides will continue to explore, strengthen exchanges and cooperation, jointly promote the comprehensive and international development of vocational education, and cultivate more diversified and composite high-skilled talents who can adapt to the new economic situation and industrial transformation environment.
